COMPARTMENT BELT

6 - Compartment Belt (£3)

A wide leather belt (approx 7cm) from a charity shop, with 6 cardboard boxes covered in leatherette. These were each 4cm wide, 3cm deep, with height going from 8cm at the front to 10cm at the back (I have included a template with the pictures for this section). These were attached with double-sided tape.

I made the lid-flap from another piece of leatherette, folded over at the front for the flap, then going over the top of the box and attached with more double sided tape on the back. The back of the belt was strengthened with a length of carpet tape (see pictures).

I cut the buckle from the belt, and used lengths of Velcro on either end to secure it when I was wearing it. The last photo was taken after the Halloween party, which is why it looks a little battered.

Dimensions for the individual boxes. The same template was used for the leatherette, with a few adjustments for the excess material.
This is how it all attached together. A painfully slow and boring process.

As I said, a painfully slow process. Attaching the leatherette to the cardboard box took a very long time. Adding the lid was again pretty slow, but it improved the appearance and strenthened the whole thing.

Finally! The velcro strips worked extemely well, but I probably didn't need to have used so much.
